Utah Shared Stewardship Holds Two Forest Product Industry Meetings

Salt Lake – In January, Utah Shared Stewardship hosted two Forest Product Industry meetings in Richfield and Heber City to discuss challenges impacting the existing industry in Utah and opportunities for financial and technical assistance that will encourage wood utilization.

These meetings mark the third year Utah Shared Stewardship has hosted meetings that are focused on convening and supporting members of Utah’s private industry.

These meetings included speakers from Utah’s Division of Forestry Fire and State Lands, USDA Forest Service, Public Lands Policy Coordinating Office, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity, the National Forest Foundation, and USDA Rural Development.

Utah Shared Stewardship supports cross-boundary, hazardous fuels reduction work throughout the state to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire to communities and watersheds. To achieve statewide hazardous fuels management, Utah Shared Stewardship coordinates with Federal, state, tribal, and private partners, including industry. Utah Shared Stewardship depends on a diverse group of engaged stakeholders and partners to share information and resources across agencies and organizations.
